Director:  David Fincher

Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Rober Downey Jr., Anthony Edwards, Brian Cox

Release Date:  March 2, 2007

What’s it about?

A riveting mystery-thriller based on the manhunt of a serial-killer of the same name. The film is replete with Fincher’s trademarks – dark blue hues, a captivating background score, and intense dialogue-driven scenes.

What’s hot?

Besides the dexterous performances of Gyllenhaal, Ruffalo, and Downey Jr., the film works because it is a tease – enticing the audience with just enough detail, yet not falling into the trap of stating the identity of the killer.

What’s not?

There is no closure for the audience, which actually works both ways! Furthermore, the second half seems to lose steam and trundle along barring two captivating scenes involving Ruffalo and Gyllenhaal.

I’d give this..

4 Stars – Watch it alone for maximum thrills!
