What’s it about?
Following Superman’s colossal battle with Zod, Bruce Wayne, a business magnate, considers Kal-El to be the greatest danger to mankind, and vows to destroy him. Following a series of events triggered by Lex Luthor, Wayne gets his crack at Superman, and an epic showdown ensues.
Zack Snyder is probably one of the most visually versatile directors out there. The cinematography and effects are excellent, and provide an interesting blend of reality and fantasy mixed together. Affleck gives a strong account of himself as an older, rougher Batman. I am looking forward to see him get his own movie. Wonder Woman’s short role makes an impact and so does Jeremy Irons as Alfred.
Well, there’s a lot wrong with this movie. I think a fascinating point is that the movie works well in parts, with some scenes being excellent visual pieces. However, the storyline is not coherent, and worse, its not well conveyed on screen. The dream sequences actually make sense when one understands what they are, but that’s what Snyder misses! Everyone will not try and find out what those scenes meant. The movie had SO much potential, and is undone by a weirdly complicated plot line which doesn’t make sense. In fact, if you just watched it, I’m pretty sure you would not be able to recollect each of the plot points. DC needs to put in a lot more work!
Personally, I do not mind the broody tone. It fits DC! But please do something about Superman. The guy needs to be more charismatic!
I’d give this..
2.5 Stars – The movie is a jumbled mess. Watch it for the action sequences!
