What’s it about?
An unlikely pair comes together as a private detective and an unethical enforcer join hands to find a missing girl linked to the murder of a fading porn star. Assisted by the former’s young daughter, the two discover a conspiracy concerning investigative journalism, pornography, and a takedown of corporate America.
The Nice Guys was easily one of the surprises of 2016. Crowe and Gosling have amazing chemistry, and their screen presence is ably augmented by Rice, whose contribution is noteworthy. The plot storyline is gripping, and moves through quickly. The seventies setting adds to the nonchalant, cool vibe of the production along with a great background score. The movie keeps the viewer guessing till the very end, and does an excellent job with the comedic scenes with crisp dialogue.
Trust me, this is not a critique, but another layer of depth in the mystery would have taken this movie to another level altogether. Add to that, making Gosling loook slightly less desperate would have done wonders too!
I’d give this..
