What’s it about?
The movie revolves around Sam Witwicky, who comes across a fragment of the Cube which transfers Cybertronian knowledge to him. As the Decepticons successfully raise Megatron back from the dead and hunt Sam, they await the arrival of a former Prime known as The Fallen, who seeks revenge on Earth by turning on a machine to consume the Sun’s energy. The only hope for Sam and the rest of the human race? The Autobots.
The thing about movies like this one is that the action sequences are simply so cool that they overshadow a lot of what’s wrong with the film. But hey! I’m not complaining. Once again, Bay shows he is the master of action and VFX. Stirring sequences showing a battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons make the scenes jump of the screen and appear realistic. Though there is a dose of humour, I do not believe it’s everyone’s cup of tea.
Ah well! As with almost every Transformers, the last 40 minutes is a huge, mind-boggling battle scene. Thing is, no matter how cool the effects are, this form of storytelling gets tiring. While not terrible, there isn’t much to write home about the performances. Also, some plot points are just ridiculous!
I’d give this..
3 Stars – It’s enjoyable if you don’t think too much!
